Presented by Steve Giddings

Time: Monday July 12, 15:30 EDT (Eastern Daylight Time)

Trained musicians were once expected to be able to improvise, compose, learn by ear, and read. We will analyze what it means to be a musician, what it means to improvise and compose, and how you can learn to let go and let your learners’ creativity thrive. In this session, we will be questioning the idea of a composer, what creativity is, and exploring the idea of flipping Bloom's Taxonomy on its head and beginning with creating.

During this session:

1. Attendees will think about what it means to be a composer, or to be creative.

2. Attendees will be given examples of what composing can look like with regard to flipping Bloom on his head.

3. Attendees will be given practical tips to implement in their classrooms.
