Ester Asibuo

 

Mrs. Asibuo-Ramos holds a Master of Arts in Teaching (Music) from Lehman College, a B.A. in Literature and a B.M. in Music (Summa Cum Laude) from SUNY Purchase,. As an active lyric Soprano and independent music professional, Mrs. Asibuo-Ramos can be heard in numerous solo and ensemble recitals, concerts, operas, galas, and services throughout the Tri State area. She has performed the role of “Despina” in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte, “Amahl” in Amahl and the Night Visitors, roles in The Dialogues of the Carmelites, Hansel and Gretel, and in Monteverdi's Coronazione di Poppea. She has also performed Faure’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bach’s Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah, Carrissimi's Jephte, Beethoven’s Ode to Joy at Carnegie Hall, ensembles at the Apollo Theatre and Radio City Music Hall, and other choral works. In the realm of education, Mrs. Asibuo-Ramos co-founded The Mariah Estee Learning Centre (a certified k-6 school) in Kumasi, Ghana in 2008, which now educates over 500 students per term. She was a Master Teacher and Music Content Lead at Brilla College Prep, in the Bronx, where she taught for 6 years and received the Teacher of the Year Award (2018) and Virtuous Practitioner Award (2021). Ms. Asibuo Ramos is currently a NYC DOE music teacher at PS 36 Unionport in the Bronx, where she has been selected as a Paul Simon Fellow Cohort 2. She lives to share the gift of diverse music with young minds and all who she meets. Recently, Mrs. Asibuo-Ramos was nominated for 2 ACTF American Theatre Prize Awards in singing and acting for her role as the Stepmother in the Lehman College production of Cinderella. The play also wone the top theatre prize .Mrs. Asibuo-Ramos is looking forward to managing and teaching abroad at the Mariah Estee LC in Kumasi, Ghana in the Summer of 2023.
