Making Connections: Interdisciplinary Learning in General Music

Do you want to strengthen the connections your students make in your general music classes? Do you want to show your students how music is everywhere? Or perhaps you’ve just been asked by an administrator to incorporate science, literacy, or math into your music lessons. Music connects so naturally to many subjects! In this session, we will explore ways to integrate other disciplines into your music lessons in meaningful ways, as well as how you might collaborate with other teachers.

In this session, attendees will:

  • Learn what genuine interdisciplinary learning is and isn’t

  • Explore different ways teachers may approach interdisciplinary learning

  • Take away practical examples of interdisciplinary lessons and units
