World Choir Festival + Clinic
Professional Development Workshops: April 18, 2020
Every choir has students who lack the confidence to own the spotlight and the stage. In this session led by rock vocalist/vocal coach Laura Kaye, you will learn new ways to motivate and inspire all of your students to discover their creative wings and SOAR!
This session will explore the ways that we can include our singers in the repertoire selection process when programming a concert and the impact it has on their engagement, esteem, and learning success.
A treasure trove of choral pedagogy! This step-by-step session explores repertoire designed to take beginners from unison to two-part singing by focusing on the underlying skills necessary for success.
We all want to do the best possible job for our choirs, but we can't do that if we don't look after ourselves as well. In this session, we'll look at common challenges that can arise when you lead a choir, from 'imposter syndrome' to being swamped with admin. We'll discuss practical strategies to get back on track, boost your confidence and find the inspiration you need for every rehearsal.
Join clinician Katie O'Connor-Ballantyne as she introduces new 2-part and 3-part choral repertoire from Alfred Music. Download sample PDFs at home so you can sing along.

Strategies for engaging students where they are: on their devices!
In this session we will explore how to build in the elements for performance of a piece from the very first rehearsal.
