Combating Prejudices Instilled by Normative Practices

If educators are given the tools to create dialogue around complex and sensitive topics they can then modify the approaches to suit their needs and comfort levels accordingly. I will be discussing how social emotional learning can take place inside of any music classroom and the ways in which we can approach these conversations with students in any setting. I will also discuss the ever-daunting and illusive topic of social justice in what I hope is a more digestible manner than some of us may have been exposed to in the past.
