Creative Musicking: The Path to 'Letting Go' of Your Creative Inhibitions

SATURDAY JUNE 13 | 9:00 MT

Presented by Steve Giddings

In this session, you will be provided with the tools you need to become the best creative musician you can be. Classically trained musicians, typically, have a very hard time playing off the page. Musicians were once expected to be able to improvise, compose, learn by ear, and later, read. Now, much of what a classical musician's skill-set includes, is the ability to read someone else's ink, and that's about it. This mindset can pour over into the psyche of your students too. It doesn't have to be like this, and it shouldn't be. We will analyze what it means to be a musician, how to become comfortable with improvising and composing, and ways to help your students do the same.
