Designing Project-Based Music Learning
Presented by George Hess
Project-based learning (PBL) is more than just big assignments. It’s a process-oriented, open-ended, and student-centered method that is designed to engage and inspire students to take charge of their own learning and follow their interests. Project-based learning is fun for both students and teachers and results in greater retention of learning In this session, participants will learn how to design project-based learning effectively. We’ll learn about the key elements of good PBL, how to define open-ended outcomes, how to identify authentic project topics, and how to assess the process. We’ll also talk about what happens in the classroom and how to manage the process. This session will be interactive. Once the basics are covered, we’ll design a project for one or more of the participants.
