Have a BLAST with Bucket Drums
Presented by Tom Anderson
Time: Tuesday July 13, 10:00 EDT (Eastern Daylight Time)
Here's a hands-on approach for one of today's most exciting percussion instruments, Bucket Drums. In this session you will experience this fun, "street" instrument introducing your students to rhythm, timbre, dynamics, form and group discipline. For as little as $10 for a 5-gallon bucket and drumsticks the world of bucket drumming opens to each student of your class. Basic materials will be demonstrated as well as the three basic tones. Introductory warm-ups and play-along songs will be shown as well as ensembles with other percussion instruments. The "starting from scratch" approach will be used so even beginning teachers and their students will feel comfortable playing this most organic instrument. Participants won't need instruments at this point because body percussion will be used for demonstration purposes. Once you're back in the classroom, hand out the drums and let's get crackin'!
In this session, Tom will:
-Show basic materials needed for bucket drumming.
-Demonstrate three basic tones Incorporate those tones in warm-ups and play-along songs.
