How to Incorporate Lessons on Looping and Sequencing
This session will provide the attendees with techniques, apps, websites, and lesson plan examples for how to incorporate music looping and sequencing into their lessons. The session will highlight two specific apps/websites, Garage Band and Groove Pad. The session will begin by demonstrating how to access each of the app/websites and the basics of how to use each. The session will then provide lesson plan examples that will allow their students to create original music using the loops and digital instruments in each app/website. The three lesson plan examples used in the session will demonstrate teaching students about the history and basics of blues and jazz music and how to create original music for each genre, as well as how to create original theme music for a variety of movie characters and scenes in a movie. By the end of the session, the attendees should have a basic understanding of how to use Garage Band and Groove Pad through the apps on a device or through the website emulator. The session will also guide attendees through how incorporate these technologies using the lessons provided in the session and help generate ideas for creating their own lessons that incorporate these technologies into their curriculum.
