Audio for Music Educators
Presented by George Hess
One of the biggest holes in music education programs is the lack of training in audio technology. Setting up a PA for a concert, recording your ensembles or connecting audio systems in your classroom are often a big mystery, yet these are often crucial aspects of your program. And when things go wrong, you know where the buck stops. In this session, we’ll cover the basics of audio including mics, amps, speakers, and cables, and you’ll learn how to connect it all together. We’ll talk about choosing the right microphones and how to place them to get the best sound for solos, instrumental and vocal ensembles in both live concerts and recording sessions, You’ll learn the functions of a mixing board and how to make sure you get the best sound and great recordings.
