Front-Loading Your Choral Rehearsal: Constructing for Success

FRIDAY JUNE 12 | 18:30 MT

Presented by Christine Bass

Why are we often frustrated by trying to ‘fix’ problems right before the concert? It has to do with how we initially approached the piece. In this session we will explore how to build in the elements for performance of a piece from the very first rehearsal. What techniques can you use to equip your singers to execute the repertoire with understanding, beauty, excellence and passion? What elements and in what order, will bring the results you want? The initial approach to a piece makes a huge difference in the final performance. Front-Loading will revolutionize your choral rehearsals and your final results. This session will help you develop metacognitive singers who take more initiative for their own music making process, giving your singers the tools to make musical decisions and ‘own’ their music. Hands on examples of these rehearsal techniques using specific repertoire will provide participants practical experience with Front-Loading. You will come away with many, specific rehearsal techniques which will transform your rehearsals and your ensembles. Repertoire will be provided to all those in attendance and will include exceptional selections from Hal Leonard Corporation.
