T-shirts not Tuxes: Reaching the Other 80% of Students on Your Campus

Band/Orchestra/Choir programs in secondary schools see an average of 20% of their campus populations. We seek to reach the other 80% and immerse them in programs that prepare them to be life-long music creators in their cultures and communities. Different students will require different needs, and this session will help equip educators to develop those student programs and reach that other 80%. Topics include teaching and learning strategies in diverse instrumentation, student motivations, "structures", and creating resources for students in these diverse programs. This session will also discuss student-led and personalized learning models.
